Smok X Cube II Review – 160W Temperature Control Box Mod

Smok X Cube II

Here I bring you a review of the brand new Smok X Cube II, a 160W temperature control box mod by SMOKTech.

The Smok X Cube II is a stunning box mod that is powered by dual 18650s (not included). The X Cube 2 is capable of 160W and has a temperature range of 200°F-600°F (100°C-315°C).

I have been using the Smok X Cube II for about 4 days now, fully customized it, anything from screen timeout, to l.e.d. color, to how hard it fires! I’ve hit about 300 puffs with fully charged batteries, and it’s only 3/4 drained! Vaped around 70-80 watts the whole time, so that’s some pretty awesome battery life!

A unique thing about the Smok X Cube II is that it features Bluetooth technology and a customizable LED light with a unique and stunning fire bar that is seamlessly built into the device.

The Smok X Cube II can be connected to your phone via Bluetooth and then controlled via the SMOK app or just through the box mod itself. Its unique firing button and Bluetooth capability alongside its power and temp control, makes it a very promising box mod. Let’s see how it fairs out!

You can control the Smok X Cube II completely through the Bluetooth app and your phone. You’ll need at least IOS 7 or Android 4.3 system and above to connect your phone, so do make sure you have this on your phone otherwise you can’t control the X Cube through the app.

I am not a big fan of the app itself and much prefer to control the device through the box mod itself. However, you will need to change the temperature coefficient and this can only be done through the app.

The temperature coefficient is automatically set at 0, so you will need to change this depending on what type of wire you are using in your RDA or atomizer.

If you are using Ni200 (nickel) then the temperature coefficient is around 0.006 so the slider needs to be changed to this setting. If you leave the temperature coefficient as it is, the device won’t work correctly in temperature control mode; at least it didn’t for me.

If you are using Titanium wire, then the temperature coefficient is 0.0038, so slide the slider up to this setting.

When you select your vape in temperature control mode it will actually give you the temperature coefficient on the device, but unfortunately it doesn’t change it automatically to match the coil you are using despite selecting either nickel or titanium. It then has to be done on the app, which is a bit of a pain.

That was the only thing I used the app for and everyone will need to do this if they want the temp control to work properly. Please make sure you have a phone or tablet that has the required operating system!

Once you have set the temperature coefficient you can use the temperature control. There were some initial videos on Youtube that suggested that the temperature control didn’t work, but since then people have been doing dry burn tests and the temperature control now does work. I am not sure if SMOK have changed something or if they have done some changes, but the temperature control now seems to work.

The Smok X Cube II works well up to 160W, so it competes with the likes of the IPV3 Li and Sigelei 150W. It provides more than enough power for any type of sub ohm tank or low build on an RDA. The wattage mode works as you would expect it to and you can easily scroll up and down the wattages using the + and – buttons at the top of the box mod

Any updates or wattage increments, etc. will be available on Smok’s website when they come out with any!! Simply plug in your device using the micro usb port (NOT FOR CHARGING) and select the firmware upgrade in your mods setting menu.

Comes with a range of safety features, including short circuit/low resistance protection, low battery warning, overheat protection and a 12-second cutoff.

In Conclusion, I have been extremely happy with the devices power, output wattage, and look of the device!

The only thing i’m not big on, is the weight. It is very heavy, but it’s a small price to pay for such an incredible piece of power!

For the price, I would say it’s an easy no brainer buy!
